  • The Rams have now allowed single-digit points in five of their past seven games played, going back into last year.
  • The Rams had a 63.6% success rate defensively in Week 1 (third).
  • The Titans had a league-high 13 penalties for 131 yards in Week 1.
  • Tennessee converted a league-worst 14.3% (2 of 14) of its third downs in Week 1.
  • 70% of Tennessee's sets of downs reached third down, 31st in the league.
  • 35% of Tennessee's sets of downs produced a new first down, the lowest rate in the league. The next closest team was at 57.9%.
  • The Rams played under center for 64.9% of their Week 1 dropbacks, the highest rate in the league in Week 1. The league rate at 30.5%.

Trust = spike production for that player

Quarterback

Matthew Stafford: Stafford’s back was good to go on Sunday, and he played an efficient game in the season opener against a strong Houston defense.

Stafford connected on 21 of 29 (72.4%) attempts, throwing for 245 yards (8.4 Y/A) with a touchdown.

What was interesting was how the Rams operated on offense.

Stafford led the league with dropbacks under center (64.9%), which was his second-highest rate since joining the Rams.

If you recall from this offseason, we highlighted how under-center passing has been an underutilized key to efficiency.

Under center on Sunday, Stafford was 12 of 15 (80%) for 129 yards (8.6 Y/A) with a touchdown.

He used play action on 66.7% of his snaps under center.

Using play action, Stafford was 9 of 10 for 108 yards (10.1 Y/A) with his touchdown.

We will keep tabs on how static that Week 1 approach was, but Stafford’s career-high in play action rate is 30.2% while his previous high under center rate is 47.3% back in 2019.

For fantasy, we know what we have with Stafford as a floor-based QB2.

Even with his efficiency last week, he was QB19 in scoring (13.6 points).

Stafford has to flirt with 3-plus touchdowns through the air to compete as a QB1 on a weekly level.

This is not a spot that is a signal for a ton of passing output.

We are getting him as a favorite here, but this Tennessee defense showed up in Denver last week.

They allowed 4.4 yards per attempt (second in the league) to Bo Nix.

Cam Ward: Ward’s first career start went about as expected, considering the challenging spot he was put in heading to Denver on the road.

He ended his first game completing 12 of 28 passes (42.9%) for 112 yards (4.0 Y/A) while taking 6 sacks.

He did not have a rushing attempt.

While the Denver defense is the best in the league, Ward did not receive a lot of help up front or from his pass catchers.

Tennessee had a 10.7% drop rate in Week 1, ahead of only the Cowboys (11.8%).

Ward was also pressured on a league-high 52.9% of his dropbacks.

Ward is still someone we are handling as a back-end QB2 at this stage.

He will get his first start at home, but he faces an equally challenging pass rush while the Rams defense picked up where they left off a year ago, when they closed the season as one of the league’s best defenses.

The Rams had a 41.2% pressure rate in Week 1 (6th).

When pressured in Week 1, Ward was 5 of 12 for 52 yards.
