Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Baker Mayfield: Mayfield continues to find a way to deliver for gamers as a QB1.
One week, it was accompanied by an outlier touchdown rate.
Another week, it is having a spike in rushing output.
Another week, it is being hyper-efficient with 4 incompletions and 11.5 yards per pass attempt.
He keeps getting there.
Mayfield has been QB13 or higher in every game this season.
In the context of everything that has happened with the Buccaneers on the injury front, it is a testament to how well Mayfield has performed.
Mayfield is QB5 in points per game (21.1).
He has 10 touchdowns to 1 interception.
Keep pushing Mayfield out as a QB1.
This week, he draws a San Francisco defense that has been better to open the season under Robert Saleh.
The 49ers have allowed 6.4 yards per pass attempt (8th), but they have allowed a 4.7% touchdown rate (18th) and a 67.1% completion rate (19th).
Spencer Rattler and Matthew Stafford have QB1 weeks against them, so there is no reason to run and hide.
San Francisco has had issues getting to the passer after the loss of Nick Bosa.
Over the past three weeks, San Francisco has had a 28% pressure rate, ranking 28th in the league.
From a clean pocket, Mayfield has a 112.2 rating (12th), completing 70.6% of his passes with 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
Mac Jones: We are going into the week anticipating that Jones draws another start this week.
Brock Purdy has not been ruled out, so we will monitor his status and adjust accordingly if he is cleared to return during the week as he recovers from aggravating his turf toe injury.
Jones was put in an unfavorable spot last week against the Rams, down all of his primary receivers, and he went 33 of 49 for 342 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
A few fun notes on Jones.
He has now passed Trey Lance in wins as a starter with the 49ers.
He also became the first San Francisco quarterback to win three consecutive starts in a season while throwing 35 or more times since Steve Young in 1998.
Kyle Shanahan could be having his last laugh here, as Jones is winning games without relying on the infrastructure of the Shanahan run game as a complement.
Jones has finished his starts as QB8, QB17, and QB10.
I do prefer to use him as a higher-end QB2, but he is in the mix as a fringe QB1 option should you need to keep using him in 1QB formats.
The 49ers will need to keep Jones clean this week.
Jones is undoubtedly going to see the blitz.
The Buccaneers are blitzing 34% of the time (6th in the league).
When the Bucs do blitz, they have a 53.1% pressure rate on blitzes, third in the league.
Jones has only been blitzed on 18.2% of his dropbacks, the second-lowest rate in the league.
The only passer with a lower rate is Purdy (15.2%).
Todd Bowles blitzed Purdy 43.9% of the time last season.
But when Jones has been blitzed, he has completed only 54.2% of his passes (28th) for 5.1 yards per pass attempt (29th) and 9.5 yards per completion (30th).
When pressured, Jones has thrown for 5.1 Y/A, 25th in the league.
