We are coming off a rough Week 11 for the league and me on the site.
Last week was easily my worst week of the season, in DFS and player props.
Writing up player and game expectations for over a decade, this is far from the first time I have had a rough week (and there will be others down the line), but it is always humbling when it smacks you like last week.
Outside of my own misses last week, NFL passing production had another down week.
The collective 84.2 passer rating was the lowest in a week this season.
Teams only completed 62.1% of their passes, ahead of only last week’s 61.1% rate and a 61.6% rate in Week 7.
The 3.4% passing touchdown rate was a season low despite the lowest sack rate of the year (5.1%).
Even the 4.1 yards per rush were the second lowest of the season and the lowest since Week 6.
The 21% touchdown rate per drive on offense was the lowest in a week this season.
The 49.1% red zone conversion rate for touchdowns was the lowest of the year.
Even with the collective offensive failure last week, we are set out to get back on track this week.
After this week, we will officially be two-thirds of the way through the NFL regular season.
It is wild how fast time moves in the NFL, as sample sizes still feel small and consistently shifting.
Week 12 is pivotal in the fantasy football landscape.
This is the home stretch of the fantasy regular season.
It is the final week of the FFPC regular season for those who participate in that format.
Many seasonal leagues are in their final three weeks of finalizing playoff spots.
We have four teams on bye this week (Broncos, Chargers, Dolphins, and Commanders) and a host of injuries to navigate through.
This will be a particularly scarce week for wide receivers across leagues.
No position is feeling the impact of the state of the league entering this week more than wide receiver.
The position has had the fewest receptions, yards, and fantasy points through 11 weeks of a season since 2017.
With the teams on bye, injuries, and a suspension, we are missing close to one-third of the top-36 wide receivers in preseason ADP.
Ja’Marr Chase will miss Week 12 with a suspension.
Malik Nabers, Drake London, Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, Garrett Wilson, Calvin Ridley, and Travis Hunter are out with injuries.
Brian Thomas Jr. and Marvin Harrison Jr. are up in the air entering the week.
Ladd McConkey, Courtland Sutton, Terry McLaurin, Jaylen Waddle, and Deebo Samuel are on bye, to go along with ADP values Troy Franklin and Quentin Johnston.
Outside of the wide receiver position, we have even more carnage impacting the landscape this week.
Injuries to Michael Penix, Aaron Rodgers, and Dillon Gabriel could give us three new starting quarterbacks this week.
Justin Fields has been benched for Tyrod Taylor.
At running back, Josh Jacobs and Jaylen Warren left last week and are in question for Sunday.
If injuries or misfortune have worked against you this season, there is still plenty of DFS or player prop action to get into and make the most of the remainder of the season.
This article will be updated throughout the week to reflect major news or injury implications.
I encourage you to use the game-by-game tables and data points here in conjunction with the player rankings that will be available every Wednesday.
Enjoy the games!
