2026 NFL Strength of Schedule
While there aren't perfect NFL strength of schedule metrics, using 2026 Vegas win totals is much better than many widely used metrics that rely on previous season record.
Vegas win totals give us a better indication of what teams could look like in 2026 than their 2025 wins.
Using that metric, we can see the Detroit Lions have the easiest projected schedule, while the Arizona Cardinals have the hardest.

2026 NFL Schedule Notes
Detroit Lions 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
In addition to an easy schedule overall, the Lions open with the easiest schedule through the first five weeks.
Only one of their first five opponents is projected to have a winning record.
They should also play in favorable conditions for most of the season.
From Week 5 to Week 16, the Lions play just two outdoor games.
One is in Miami in Week 9, and the other is a neutral game in Germany in Week 10.
Denver Broncos 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
The Broncos face an exceedingly tough start to their 2026 season.
Over the first six weeks, they travel to face the Chiefs, have a home game against the Jaguars, are home against the Rams, are away against the 49ers, travel to play the Chargers, and are home against the Seahawks.
Things get easier from there until a tough run to close out the season (home Bills, away Patriots, home Chargers), but the Broncos will need to hit the ground running to make a real play for the AFC West.
Chicago Bears 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
The NFL is clearly banking on the Bears taking another step forward in 2026.
The league awarded them seven primetime or standalone games, among the most in the league.
Playing in a tough division, the Bears currently have the sixth-toughest schedule according to our strength of schedule metric.
Buffalo Bills 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
While their full schedule has not yet leaked, the Bills are looking at a tough schedule in 2026.
They play both of their Monday Night Football games on the road against the Rams and Vikings, and they also play on the road in Denver on Christmas Day.
They also have tough home games early in the season against the Lions and Chargers, dome teams that could have been affected by weather if they were forced to travel to Buffalo later in the season.
Washington Commanders 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
Their full schedule has not yet leaked, but it looks like the Commanders will face a tough gauntlet over the first half of the season.
In the first nine weeks, the Commanders play the Eagles twice, the Seahawks at home, the 49ers on the road, and the Rams on the road.
All five of those teams have a double-digit projected win total.
The Commanders currently have the eighth-toughest overall schedule according to our strength of schedule metric, with many of those tough games coming in the early part of the season.
Philadelphia Eagles 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
An interesting Eagles travel note from The Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski:
After their flight home from London Week 5, the Eagles won't board a flight again as a team until their Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys Week 12.

Los Angeles Rams 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
The Rams certainly want to unseat the Seahawks atop the NFC West this season, but they will not see their rival until late in the season.
The Seahawks and Rams face off first in Week 16 and then again in Week 18, setting up two potentially enormous games in the final three weeks of the season.
The Rams open the season with the 49ers in Australia, their other expected rival in the division, but do not play them again until Week 14, setting up another potential late-season pivot point.
Miami Dolphins 2026 NFL Schedule Notes
The Dolphins have the second-toughest overall schedule, and it gets really rough to close the year.
Over the final six weeks, they play:
- Broncos (Away)
- Bears (Home)
- Packers (Away)
- Chargers (Home)
- Bills (Home)
- Patriots (Away)
They will be in a good spot to improve their draft slot late in the season if they struggle out of the gate.
