Geno Smith earned a three-year contract with his play in the 2022 season.
Smith’s passing regressed in the back half of the season despite playing a slightly easier schedule of passing defenses.
The Seahawks opened the season 6-3 with Smith completing 73.1% of his passes and a 107.2 passer rating.
In the final eight weeks, the Seahawks went 3-5 as Smith’s completion percentage dropped to 66.4% and passer rating dropped to 94.2.
Also of concern is that Smith ranked second in the league with 32 turnover-worthy plays.

The Seahawks ranked inside the top 10 in injury luck on both sides of the ball and finished the season ranked with the eighth-fewest adjusted games lost to injury.
Despite having two rookie tackles, the Seahawks enjoyed improved offensive line performance as ESPN had the Seahawks ranked eighth in pass block win rate.
The offensive line also benefited from good health as they required only seven different starters throughout the season, and the top unit played 68.6% of the snaps, the eighth-highest in the league.
