Starting Safety Grant Delpit was already ruled out for the season during training camp and now starting CBs Greedy Williams and nickel CB Kevin Johnson have been ruled out Sunday. LB Mack Wilson is out and is the Browns most athletic LB. The middle of the field, both in stopping the run with Lamar Jackson and friends as well as defending TE Mark Andrews, will be a major problem for the Browns.

The Eagles were already scrambling from the last few weeks when #1 rated PFF Guard Brandon Brooks as well as #1 pick from 2019 LT Andre Dillard both suffered season-ending injuries. Philadelphia will also be without starting running back Miles Sanders, who was downgraded to out on Saturday. Now RT Lane Johnson is very iffy for Sunday, as he was limited in all three practices this week and is listed as Questionable. Behind Johnson is rookie RT Jack Driscoll a fourth-round pick from Auburn. That’s bad news against a Washington team that ranked third in pressure rate last season and added top pick Chase Young.

We saw some surprising injuries pop up all over the NFL in the last few days and among them is that Lions star WR Kenny Golladay will miss Sunday’s game against the Bears. To compound matters, slot WR Danny Amendola was a limited participant all week as well and is Questionable. No. 2 WR Marvin Jones should step in nicely to fill Golladay’s shoes but filling in for Amendola could be a tough spot. Backups Marvin Hall, Quentez Cephus (rookie), and Jamal Agnew (converted defensive back) played a combined 22 offensive snaps last season.
Will be interesting to see if we see some more 2 TE sets and/or a bigger focus on running the football with rookie Deandre Swift, Adrian Peterson, and Kerryon Johnson. A bigger issue could be at CB, as both rookie stud Jeffrey Okudah is Questionable. He was expected to step right in for the departed Darius Slay and now that is uncertain. Look for Bears WR Allen Robinson to be targeted early and often if Okudah is out.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before but the Chargers are dealing with some devastating injury issues. We already know that star DB Derwin James is out for the season but according to Friday’s injury report, 3/5ths of the Chargers OL could be out as well. Center Mike Pouncey has already been declared out and Tackle Bryan Bulaga missed practice on Friday.
In addition, Guard Trai Turner had a limited practice on Friday putting his status Sunday in jeopardy. That’s an awful lot of shuffling last minute with a new QB in Tyrod Taylor taking snaps. It does help that the Bengals will be missing star DT Geno Atkins but they still have a formidable front four including Carlos Dunlap, Sam Hubbard and prize FA signee D.J. Reader.
Dunlap ranked fourth0best in PFF grades among Edge rushers last season and Reader was seventh-best among all DT. Veteran Mike Daniels is expected to step up in Atkins’s place as well. Pouncey’s replacement at center is expected to be left guard Dan Feeney, who will move over from guard. Forrest Lamp would be taking Feeney’s spot at left guard. Feeney was 70th out of 89 Guards last year in PFF grade. While he did get over 100 snaps at center last year, he was pretty awful during that stretch, allowing 9 pressures in 3 games.
Lamp wasn’t much better last season, producing a 67th ranked PFF grade at guard. Lamp’s pressure rate of 9% ranked second-worst among 122 guards with at least 100 snaps last season. If both Turner and Bulaga are out as well we would be looking at backups like Scott Quessenberry (PFF Grade of 58.4) and 2017 UFA Storm Norton who has played 0 offensive snaps in the NFL, taking over.

The Broncos suffered a major blow with the season-ending injury to OLB Von Miller during practice this week. In addition, OLB Bradley Chubb is expected to be on a pitch count after suffering a bit of a setback during their final scrimmage. This will clearly impact the Broncos pass rush as second on the depth chart behind Miller is Jeremiah Attaochu, a seven-year veteran.
Attaochu played 322 snaps last season, producing 14 total pressures on 180 pass rush snaps (8%). That is half the production that Miller produced last season, as he generated a 16% pressure rate. An even bigger impact could be stopping Derrick Henry and the Titans run game. Miller graded as the fouth0-best run defender last season among all LBs and Edge Rushers, according to PFF. His grade of 90 as compared to Attaochu’s 61.1 is a potential area for Henry to exploit.
