Quarterback

Baker Mayfield (TRUST): Mayfield exits the bye ranking 3rd in completion rate (70.6%) and 3rd in touchdown rate (7%).

He has thrown for only 5.9 Y/A over his past three games but will be getting Mike Evans back on the field out of the bye, who missed all of those games.

Since the Bucs lost Evans and Chris Godwin, Mayfield has a league-low 65.3 rating targeting wide receivers, completing 58.7% of his passes to wide receivers for 6.0 Y/A and one touchdown.

Even without Evans active for those three games, Mayfield has weeks as QB10 and QB13 in scoring.

Mayfield is a QB1 option on a week impacted by injuries.

He is not only getting Evans back this week but is getting a strong matchup against a Giants team that is once again heading for a disappointing finish to the season.

The Giants are 24th in passing points allowed per attempt (0.476).

They can pressure the quarterback, but their pass defense is dependent on that pressure.

They are 5th in pressure rate (38% of dropbacks).

But when the Giants have not gotten home with their pass rush, they have been decimated.

When they have not gotten pressure, the Giants have allowed a league-high 81.3% completion rate and 8.7 Y/A (31st).

When Mayfield has not been pressured, he is 8th in rating (108.2), leading the NFL with 23 touchdowns.

When he has been pressured, Mayfield has still completed 62.5% of his passes (3rd) but drops to 6.6 Y/A (14th) with only 1 touchdown pass.

Tommy DeVito: The Giants are turning the offense over to DeVito out of their bye.

DeVito made six starts with the Giants a year ago, averaging 12.8 fantasy points per game with one QB1 scoring week.

Out of 48 passers to throw the ball 100 or more times last season, DeVito completed 64% of his passes (28th) for 6.2 Y/A (37th), and a first down or touchdown on 25.8% of his attempts (43rd).

He also was sacked on a league-high 17.2% of his dropbacks.

To give DeVito some benefit of the doubt, he did not have Malik Nabers, but the rest of this situation is largely the same.

Since Andrew Thomas has been off the field, the Giants have allowed a 40.1% pressure rate, which is 30th in the league.

Pressure was DeVito’s undoing last season.

When pressured, he averaged 4.1 Y/A (42nd) with a sack on a league-high 44.6% of those dropbacks.

When blitzed, he averaged 4.7 Y/A (46th) with a sack on a league-high 32.2% of those dropbacks.

The Bucs are 8th in blitz rate (30.4%).

You are not using DeVito as more than QB2 in spots with a hole, but if you are holding out hope for improvement in this new opportunity, the Bucs have been a defense with plenty of issues defending the pass.

They have allowed 18.3 passing points per game (30th), allowing 7.5 yards per pass attempt (24th) and a 5.4% touchdown rate (24th).

DeVito can also move a bit.

He averaged 29.7 rushing yards in his starts last season.
