Quarterback

Justin Herbert (TRUST): Herbert has not posted a QB1 scoring week since the season opener.

Over the past three weeks, he has averaged only 5.7 yards per pass attempt, which is 27th in the league.

With the state of the offensive line, the Chargers attempted to adjust with their running game and a quicker passing attack when they did throw.

The Chargers had a 56.8% dropback rate in neutral game script on Sunday, their lowest rate of the season to date.

They threw the ball 6% below expectations and 19% below expectations on first downs.

When Herbert did throw, he averaged 3.8 air yards per attempt, his fewest of the season.

After averaging 10.1, 9.0, and 9.1 air yards per attempt through three games, he has been at 6.5 and 3.8 air yards these past two weeks, losing Joe Alt in Week 4 and Mekhi Becton (who was inactive Week 4) this past week.

Everything is collapsing in the most Charger-esque fashion early on.

Without Omarion Hampton and Najee Harris, this offense is built to pass.

They need to hold up long enough for Herbert to take advantage of this Miami pass defense.

Miami has been active in rushing the passer in recent weeks.

They are fifth in pressure rate over the past three weeks (42.6%).

However, when they do not get pressure, this is still an exploitable defense that is one of the worst in the league.

The Dolphins have allowed a league-high 74.5% completion rate, 8.3 yards per pass attempt (31st), and a 6.6% touchdown rate (27th).

They are allowing 15.9 passing points per game, 23rd in the league.

Every quarterback they have faced outside of Bryce Young has been a top-five weekly scorer.

On top of that, they are allowing 32.8 rushing yards per game to quarterbacks (29th).

Herbert is averaging a career-high 30.6 rushing yards per game to open the season, rushing for at least 24 yards in four of the five games this season.

While there are still concerns that this offensive line can throw a wrench in any good matchup, the Miami defense is the cure to stop the bleeding for at least one week.

Tua Tagovailoa: Tagovailoa is coming off his best fantasy outing of the season, completing 27 of 36 (75%) passes for 256 yards with 3 touchdowns against the Panthers.

Tagovailoa has now thrown multiple touchdowns in each of his past four games.

His 7.1% touchdown rate is fifth in the league over that span.

His career rate is 5.0%, so we should see that level off.

Especially since Tagovailoa is averaging 6.7 yards per pass attempt, which is 24th in the league.

This would be a spot where that touchdown rate could come down.

The Chargers have allowed 9.5 passing points per game, second in the league.

They have allowed a 2.6% touchdown rate (fourth) and 6.1 yards per attempt (third).

Tagovailoa is a floor-based QB2.
