  • The Chargers are 3-0 for the first time since 2002.
  • The Chargers lead the league with a 67.7% success rate on defense.
  • Opponents have scored a touchdown on 25% (2 of 8) of their red zone trips against the Chargers, the lowest rate in the league.
  • The Giants have allowed a touchdown on 80% (8 of 10) of their red zone trips on defense, ranking 29th in the league.
  • The Giants have converted 17.5% fewer third downs compared to their opponents, the worst differential in the league.
  • The Chargers have converted 10.7% more third downs than their opponents, the third-best differential in the league.

Trust = spike production for that player

Quarterback

Justin Herbert: Herbert had his hands full with the Denver defense on Sunday, completing a season-low 59.6% of his passes for 6.4 yards per pass attempt.

He also rushed for a season-low 6 yards after 32 and 31 yards in the opening two games.

Herbert was still able to manage 300 yards passing and a spectacular touchdown that tied the game, working his way to a QB13 scoring week (14.6 points).

Herbert finds himself in a much more favorable matchup this week as a QB1; the only concern here would be if the Chargers do not end up being pushed like in Week 2.

The Giants are 21st in pressure rate (32.8%) despite ranking eighth in blitz rate (31.9%).

When they have blitzed, they are 22nd in pressure (38.6%) with a 2.6% sack rate (28th).

On those snaps where the Giants have blitzed but failed to generate pressure, they have allowed a 73.9% completion rate (22nd).

When Herbert has not been pressured, he has a 121.0 rating (fourth), completing 76% of his passes for 9.1 yards per pass attempt.

On blitzes without pressure, he has completed 21 of 27 passes (77.8%) for 274 yards (10.1 Y/A).

If the Giants can get there, Herbert has only completed 45.5% of his passes (19th) for 5.5 Y/A (16th) when pressured.

Jaxson Dart: Dart will officially make his first start of his career this Sunday.

It was only the preseason, but a lot of the initial hype and push for him to get on the field was based on his performance this exhibition period.

In the preseason, Dart completed 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards (7.9 Y/A) with 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

He also ran 6 times for 52 yards and another score.

Big picture, I am bullish on Dart being a viable QB2 with upside in the same vein that we saw from Drake Maye last season.

Dart can run, and he has a true WR1 threat to elevate him, something that Maye lacked (and still does).

When Maye had a chance to start last year against a tough Houston defense, he still managed 19.5 fantasy points in a 41-21 loss.

If you want a real sicko pull, consider the last time a Giants first-round quarterback made his debut: Daniel Jones has the most fantasy points in his first career start (34.2) for any passer since 1981.

Dart had a career rushing production score in the 72nd percentile in my college prospect model.

He scrambled on 9.5% of his dropbacks, the second-highest rate in this draft class.

When pressured, Dart scrambled on 19.2% of his dropbacks (also second).

He also led this draft class in yards per pass attempt under pressure (10.2 Y/A) and with a clean pocket (10.9 Y/A).

While optimistic enough to use him in 2QB leagues and potentially even as a punt option in DFS this weekend, ceiling expectations are muted here.

The Chargers have allowed a 57.9% completion rate (4th), 5.5 yards per pass attempt (2nd), and a 1.9% touchdown rate (2nd) to opposing passers.

The Chargers have also allowed a league-low 27.6% completion rate on throws 10 or more yards downfield.
