Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Jalen Hurts (TRUST): Not much good came out of Monday night.
Hurts ended the week as the QB18 (12 points), completing a season low 57.7% (15 of 26) of his passes for 183 yards with a touchdown.
He added 27 yards rushing, but we have hit a lull in that department for him.
Hurts has 55 rushing yards over his past five games.
He has 1 rushing touchdown over his past six games.
He has not rushed for a touchdown in three straight games, his longest drought since the 2022 season.
Going back to last year, three of Hurts' seven lowest-scoring weeks have now come against the Green Bay defense.
Monday was only the second time this season that Hurts was not a QB1 scorer, so we are not going to overly panic since we have been here all season with this new offense.
We are deep into the season, and the Eagles offense is still trying to find a consistent tone.
Coming out of the bye, the Eagles were not impressive in the box score, but we did see Hurts use play action on a season-high 42.3% of his dropbacks.
Hurts averaged 8.0 yards per pass attempt on his play-action attempts compared to 6.3 Y/A without.
While Hurts has still held onto a solid floor, we have lacked ceiling production.
He only has two weeks this year as a top-six scorer.
This week, he plays in a potentially up-tempo environment where points could be needed.
Detroit has been vulnerable, ranking 21st in passing points allowed per attempt (0.477).
The Lions have played man coverage on 33.7% of their defensive snaps, fourth in the league.
That has been where Hurts has been at his best this season.
Against man coverage, Hurts has completed 63.6% of his passes (5th) for 9.1 yards per pass attempt (3rd) with 12 touchdowns and 1 interception.
His 18.2% touchdown rate against man coverage is second in the league behind Matthew Stafford (18.6%).
Against zone coverages, Hurts has completed 71.3% of his passes (13th) for 7.2 Y/A (23rd) and a 2.3% touchdown rate (17th).
The Lions have also had issues slowing down mobile passers, so this would be a good spot to get the rushing production back on track.
Detroit is 20th in rushing points allowed to quarterbacks (3.2 per game).
Caleb Williams (27 yards), Lamar Jackson (35 yards), Jake Browning (31 yards), Patrick Mahomes (32 yards and a touchdown), J.J. McCarthy (12 yards and a touchdown), and Marcus Mariota (22 yards) have all chipped in rushing production on top of their lines for fantasy.
Jared Goff: Goff understood the assignment last week, completing 25 of 33 passes (75.8%) for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns.
He ended the week as the QB5 (24.8 points).
The big news out of Sunday was Dan Campbell taking over play-calling, and some notable things changed.
Goff was under center for 61% of his dropbacks, his third-highest rate of the season (and highest since Week 5).
As an extension of playing under center more often, Goff used play action on 51.5% of his dropbacks, his highest rate of the season.
The Lions also used pre-snap motion on 66.7% of his dropbacks, the second-highest rate of the year.
Goff threw a season-high 60.0% of his passes with 2.5 seconds of the snap.
While the initial results were promising to build on, they also came against a reeling Washington defense.
This will be the spot to put them to the test.
Goff’s spike weeks have been identifiable so far.
His three games with QB1 scoring weeks have been against Washington, Chicago, and Cincinnati.
The Eagles are not in that group, which makes Goff more of a QB2 again this week.
The Eagles are allowing 6.5 yards per pass attempt (6th) and a 2.6% touchdown rate (2nd).
It was only one week, but the changes Philadelphia made last week had an immediate impact.
Acquiring Jaelan Phillips at the trade deadline, the Eagles had their highest pressure rate in a game on Monday (48.8%) while blitzing only 12.2% of the time.
Phillips himself was credited with 8 pressures.
Nolan Smith played for the first time since Week 3 and had 2 pressures on 10 pass rush snaps.
If there is a path for Goff to have success, it is in the play-action game.
Against non-play-action passes, the Eagles have allowed a 56.8% completion rate (3rd), 5.7 Y/A (2nd), and a league-low 1.7% touchdown rate.
On play action, however, they have allowed a 65.7% completion rate (13th), 9.3 Y/A (27th), and a 5.7% touchdown rate (17th).
