The Super Bowl LVII matchup is set between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, so let’s break down a few Super Bowl player props worth betting on this week.

Consider the over on Isiah Pacheco’s rushing yards prop

The Eagles’ defense appears to be a favorable matchup for the Chiefs’ run game, so take the over on Isiah Pacheco’s rushing yards prop in Super Bowl LVII.

Since Week 10 一 the first time Pacheco played more than 30% of the team’s snaps 一 he’s picked up at least three yards before contact on 32% of his carries, the fifth-highest rate in that span and well above the league average of 25%, per TruMedia.

In addition to consistently finding open running lanes, Pacheco also avoids backfield contact at a staggering rate.

In that same time span, Pacheco has been contacted behind the line of scrimmage on 15% of his carries, the league’s lowest rate, according to TruMedia.

Here’s a look at the Eagles’ defense by those same metrics:

  • Ranked 18th in backfield contact rate
  • Ranked 24th in rate of allowing three or more yards before contact

An alternative way to use this data to our advantage could be to bet the over on Pacheco’s rushing plus receiving yards at 66.5 yards.

Based on the advantage the Chiefs appear to have in the run game, it’s possible Pacheco could top that number with rushing alone. As an added benefit, Pacheco has also gradually been earning a larger role in the passing game.

Through his first four starts, Pacheco saw just one target. But he’s caught a pass in all but one game since and ran a season-high 26 routes against the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.

Perhaps most notably, those 26 routes were double the number run by Jerrick McKinnon, who had previously run more routes than Pacheco in every game this year.

If you’re expecting an easy Eagles victory, that game script makes the rushing-plus-receiving prop a safer play, but otherwise, I’d prefer to take the over on Isiah Pacheco’s rushing yards prop in Super Bowl XLII.
