We are officially on the “back nine” of the NFL season.

Half of the regular season is behind us as we push forward towards the fantasy postseason.

Since we are halfway, let’s compare this season to this point in recent seasons.

After a slower start, this season has found some signs of improvement.

The 22.5 offensive points per game through nine weeks are the most since 2021.

NFL teams are rushing for 114.1 yards per game.

That is down from this point last year (122.5 per game).

Teams are passing for 215.3 yards per game, which is slightly up from a year ago at this time (213.1 yards per game), but it is the second-lowest total since 2008 through nine weeks of a season.

Wide receivers still have the highest share of leaguewide targets (58.9%), but that rate is the lowest at this point of the season since 2018.

Wideouts have their lowest total of targets, receptions, and yardage through nine weeks since the 2017 season.

Tight ends have accounted for 22.9% of targets, their highest rate through nine weeks of a season in the 2000s.

Tight ends have 129 touchdown receptions, their most at this point of a season since 2014 (132).

At this time last year, the tight end position had 80 touchdown receptions.

Running backs have scored 20 fewer rushing touchdowns than this point a year ago.

They have 9 more receiving touchdowns to balance that out somewhat, but their involvement in the passing game continues to dwindle.

Running back receptions and receiving yards are at their lowest marks through nine weeks of a season in the 2000s.

Turning the page to the back half of the season, we have four teams on bye (the Bengals, Chiefs, Cowboys, and Titans), and they carry some star power outside of Tennessee.

We also have another international kickoff, with the Colts and Falcons playing in Germany on Sunday.

That game kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET, so make sure you have players set in lineups or on benches.

This article will be updated throughout the week to reflect major news or injury implications.

I encourage you to use the game-by-game tables and data points here in conjunction with the player rankings that will be available every Wednesday.

Enjoy the games!
