Cardinals vs. Giants Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Jacoby Brissett

Brissett had his best fantasy line of the season on Sunday, finishing QB4 (25.6 points).

This game was reminiscent of the 2025 Cardinals.

Brissett only had 5.6 fantasy points at halftime and scored a league-high 14.6 points in the fourth quarter.

Pushed to score points in San Francisco, Brissett threw a season-high 52 times, connecting on 38 (73.1%) for 280 yards and 2 touchdowns.

He also added a QB sneak for a rushing score to elevate his day.

He only averaged 5.4 yards per pass attempt.

Through three weeks, his 5.6 Y/A is 30th in the NFL.

Arizona is willing to throw it (they have a positive pass rate over expectation in all three games).

They just aren't throwing it downfield.

Brissett is averaging 5.8 air yards per throw (30th).

He has thrown 14.4% of his passes 15 or more yards downfield, ahead of only Deshaun Watson (14.3%).

5.8% of his passes have traveled 20 or more yards downfield, 29th in the league.

It is harder to buy that Arizona pushed into a panic-mode game script like last week here, leaving Brissett as a matchup-based QB2.

That said, his floor should be solid through the matchup, since he should be comfortable and complete a high rate of those safer throws if that's how Arizona wants to keep operating.

Losing Brian Burns, the Giants will be without their best pass rusher for the rest of the season.

The Giants are already last in the NFL in pressure rate (19.8%) and only have 1 sack through three games.

Since the start of last season, they've had a 28.8% pressure rate on defensive snaps without Burns on the field, which would be 31st in the league.

On snaps without Burns, they have allowed a 66.7% completion rate (26th).

Jameis Winston

Winston has been so bad these past two weeks that the Giants have added J.J. McCarthy to the roster.

We will not see McCarthy start this week, but Winston needs to be much better moving forward to keep him off the field sooner rather than later.

Winston has completed 51% (25 of 49) of his passes, the lowest rate in the league among league qualifiers for rating.

He has completed 9.1% fewer passes than expected, ahead of only Cooper Rush.

Winston is averaging a league-low 4.7 yards per pass attempt.

He has also taken a sack on 9.3% of his dropbacks (26th).

To give Winston some breathing room, he entered Week 2 cold against a good Rams defense.

Last week, he played in the rain against an opponent that allowed the Giants to sit on the ball and not ask for much.

The Giants threw the ball 11.5% below expectations in Week 3, 31st in the league.

I don't think Arizona will put the Giants into panic mode, but I do think they can be better than Tennessee last week.

We have seen Winston oscillate between awful and viable before.

He takes a big step of faith here as a QB2, but this is the best matchup he's had if you are going back to him.

Arizona is 28th in pressure rate (31.7%), 21st in blitz rate (23.7%), and 27th in rate of man coverage (15.2%).

They play a more passive defense, hoping the opponent makes mistakes rather than giving up shot plays.

Winston is mistake-prone, but Arizona is also allowing 7.5 yards per pass attempt (25th) and a 6% touchdown rate (28th).

They are allowing a league-high 0.746 passing points per pass attempt.

It was not all Brock Purdy last week, either.

Drew Lock was also QB9 (21.4 points) against them in Week 2.
