Welcome to Week 2 of The Worksheet, a comprehensive fantasy football preview, by Rich Hribar.

What is The Worksheet from Rich Hribar?

The Worksheet is a comprehensive weekly fantasy football preview for each NFL game. Rich Hribar analyzes the matchup for every notable fantasy player for every game every week of the NFL season.

Hopefully, everyone had a great Week 1 and started the new season off on the right foot.

Following a low-scoring 2022 season, Week 1 got off to an overall ugly foot this season.

12 games went under the game total.

There were just 61 total offensive touchdowns scored, the fewest in Week 1 since the 2017 season and the second-lowest of the past decade. For context, last season was a down year overall for scoring, and there were 73 offensive touchdowns scored in Week 1.

The collective rate of 6.3 yards per pass attempt was the lowest rate for the league in Week 1 in the 2000s.

We are still seeing a lot of the things we did a year ago from opposing defenses.

Defenses played man coverage on just 22.9% of passing plays, slightly down from the 24.4% rate we had during the 2022 season.

Teams blitzed on 25.3% of drop backs, right in line with the 25.8% rate a year ago.

Things are still far too early in development to just run wild with what happened in one week as something that will be continuous this season, but hopefully, offenses across the league have a counterpunch lined up.

Major grains of salt still need to be applied when taking an evidence-based approach this early in the year.

At this time a year ago, Carson Wentz was the QB3 in overall scoring. O.J. Howard was the TE2. Robbie Anderson and Devin Duvernay were top-12 scorers.

For the most part, early on we are focusing on initial usage notes to grasp onto moving forward.

If you have been following this post for the past few seasons, tangible information builds up and this post expands with information.

We will update this article throughout the week to reflect major news or injury implications. I encourage you to use the game-by-game tables and data points here in conjunction with the player rankings that will be available every week this season on Wednesday and enjoy the games.
