Every week during the NFL season, our experts will share their favorite same game parlay picks from this week's action.
Same Game Parlays have grown in popularity in recent seasons as recreational gamblers are drawn to parlay bets.
Parlays are especially exciting for casual gamblers looking to win more than double the original bet.
The sportsbook edge on parlays is greater than on single bets because the edge is compounded during each additional bet.
This edge can be reduced by selecting correlated outcomes, as the likelihood of both occurring together may be higher than what the sportsbook's odds suggest.
By identifying correlated outcomes, you can turn a fun, recreational bet into a +EV opportunity.
What is a same game parlay?
A same game parlay is a wager that combines multiple bet outcomes or “legs” from a single game. Combining these bets increases the risk and, therefore, the potential payout if every leg hits.
These wagers are very often correlated, meaning if one of the legs wins, it is more likely the other legs will win as well.
Week 8 NFL Parlay Picks
Panthers @ Packers Same Game Parlay Picks
- Christian Watson Over 4.5 Receptions
- Josh Jacobs Over 14.5 Rushing Attempts
- Under 46.5
Odds:+500
This is an interesting matchup.
The Panthers defense is built around stopping explosive passes.
The Packers offense is ranked 28th in offensive success rate and at times can struggle with down-to-down consistency, making them reliant on explosive passes.
The Panthers and Packers rank second and third in pass rate over expectation this season.
However, the Panthers will be without Taylor Moton, and Jalen Coker is banged up.
On the Packers side of the ball, multiple offensive linemen are out, and Matthew Golden is less than 100%.
Watson has 8 or more targets in six of seven games to open the season and has been targeted on 26.9% of his routes against Cover 3 this season.
Given Golden's health, Watson could be leaned on Thursday night.
It is important to note the Packers have utilized Watson in all areas of the field this season.
50% of his targets were behind the line of scrimmage or less than 10 air-yards against the Lions, which increases his reception floor from previous seasons.
The Jekyll & Hyde Panthers run defense struggled on Sunday, and the Panthers are without Jaelan Phillips and Bobby Brown III.
Should the Packers find some success on the ground or build a lead, the attempt total is low for Matt LaFleur‘s bell-cow running back.
