- The Browns are averaging 4.0 plays per game of 15 or more yards, the fewest in the NFL.
- Cleveland allows 4.4 plays per game of 20 or more yards (29th) after ranking 11th in 2023 (3.3 per game).
- Cleveland averages 4.0 yards per play on early downs (first and second), the fewest in the league.
- 34.1% of Cleveland's set of downs have resulted in a third and long compared to the league average of 21.6%.
- The Browns have converted 6-of-43 (14.0%) of those third and longs. The league average is 24.2%.
- The Eagles have turned the ball over on 17.5% of their drives, ahead of only the Titans (18.8%).
- Philadelphia is the only remaining team that has yet to score on a first-quarter possession (0-of-10).
- 47.5% of the Philadelphia possessions have reached the red zone or scored a TD prior, which is fourth in the league.
- 46.3% of the possessions against the Eagles have reached the red zone or scored a TD prior, 30th in the league.
- 15.3% of the Cleveland possessions have reached the red zone or scored a TD prior, the lowest rate in the NFL.
Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Jalen Hurts: Hurts is expected to have his full arsenal of playmakers on the field paired with Lane Johnson coming out of the bye.
Even though he worked through the absences of all three core players to this offense, Hurts still managed to log three QB1 scoring weeks before the bye.
He remains a QB1 option for fantasy purposes.
Without Johnson on the field in Week 4, Hurts was pressured on a season-high 56.8% of his dropbacks, but even with Johnson on the field, he has been pressured on at least 40% of his dropbacks in every game this season.
Handling pressure has been the most significant obstacle for this offense.
Under pressure, Hurts has averaged 3.6 yards per pass attempt (31st), ahead of only Caleb Williams.
From a clean pocket, he averages 9.1 yards per attempt, which is third in the NFL.
The Browns are third in the NFL in pressure rate (40.4%) to challenge those splits coming out of the bye.
We will immediately see what adjustments this offense has made early in the year with their time off and getting star receivers back on the field.
Despite still getting to the quarterback at a high rate, the Browns allow 6.4 yards per attempt under pressure (22nd) and a 6.4% touchdown rate (22nd).
Cleveland has had issues with mobile passers in two of their past three games, allowing QB1 scoring weeks to Daniel Jones (19.4 points) and Jayden Daniels (19.7 points).
Because Cleveland plays so much man coverage (a league-high 45.1%), it does allow quarterbacks rushing opportunities.
Cleveland has allowed a league-high 13.4 yards per scramble.
Hurts has also averaged 9.5 yards per attempt against man coverage, fourth in the league.
Deshaun Watson: Watson is dead last in the NFL with 4.8 yards per pass attempt.
He has been sacked on 12.9% of his dropbacks (31st) and a league-high 24.1% of blitzes.
The Browns are 30th in dropped passes (13).
It is hard to believe this situation can worsen without a signal for improvement.
The issues with this offense go beyond him, but how long can Cleveland continue to use Watson in this current state?
Kevin Stefanski (or someone above him) seems to believe that the time has not come yet.
Once again, we can point to the matchup here being a favorable spot, but Watson has just had a three-game run against the Giants, Raiders, and Commanders and has gotten progressively worse each week as QB15, QB19, and QB23.
We cannot expect anything more than QB2 output at this point.
If you are using the matchup as a carrot to chase, the Eagles are 25th in passing points allowed per attempt (0.468) and have allowed 15.9 passing points per game (26th).
