- Games involving the Lions have averaged a league-high 128.5 plays per game.
- A league-low 13.6% of the Detroit set of downs have resulted in a third and long (needing 7 or more yards). The league average is 21.6%.
- The Lions have converted 14.1% more third down plays than their opponents, 2nd in the NFL.
- The Cowboys have converted 12.9% more third downs than their opponents, 3rd in the league.
- Detroit leads the league with a 53.4% success rate on passing plays.
- The Cowboys have 80 rushing yards on runs of 10 or more yards, the fewest in the NFL.
- 76.8% of the Dallas yardage has been gained via passing, the highest rate in the league.
- Detroit has allowed a play of 10 or more yards on 24.2% of opponent plays, 31st in the league.
Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Jared Goff: The last time Goff was on the field, he completed 18-of-18 passes for 16.2 yards per pass attempt with 2 touchdowns.
Oh, yeah. He also caught a touchdown.
Goff has connected on 36-of-41 passes in his past two outings.
If you don’t disrupt Goff, you are going to have problems.
When Dallas has been unable to get to the opposing quarterback, they have had their issues.
When the Cowboys have not pressured the quarterback, passers have completed 73.3% of their throws (21st) for 8.1 Y/A (25th) and a 5% touchdown rate (21st).
With Micah Parson and Dexter Lawrence questionable and Dallas losing Marshawn Kneeland last week, their pass rush could enter Sunday missing key pieces that could impact Goff.
Goff only has one QB1 scoring week (and one week higher than QB18), so he is still best used as a floor-based QB2 who can run into spike weeks. However, this is a spot with Detroit sporting a team total and the highest game total of the week.
The game environment is worth chasing if you filled a vacated spot by Patrick Mahomes or Sam Darnold with Goff in 1QB formats.
Dak Prescott: Prescott had ball security issues on Sunday Night, but he threw for a season-high 8.4 yards per pass attempt to go along with 352 yards.
Prescott has thrown multiple touchdowns in three straight games.
Prescott is a back-end QB1 here.
Dallas is back to throwing the ball all over the place.
Prescott averages 41 dropbacks per game (3rd in the league), as no team is as reliant on passing yardage as the Cowboys.
Prescott should have another hefty dose of dropbacks in this game.
Detroit faces 39.5 pass attempts per game, the 3rd-most in the league.
Prescott threw the ball 38 times when these teams played a year ago.
Detroit has made defensive changes on the back end this offseason.
They have not allowed more than one touchdown pass in a game yet.
They are 9th in passing points allowed per attempt (0.330).
But because they face so many dropbacks per game, they are 18th in passing points allowed per game (13.0).
Dak’s rushing days are behind him at this stage, but if there was a matchup for him to get out and have a few scrambles, this would be it.
Detroit has allowed Baker Mayfield (34 yards), Kyler Murray (45), and Geno Smith (38) to flirt with the equivalent of a passing touchdown’s worth of fantasy points on the ground.
