Quarterback
Justin Herbert: Herbert has opened the season as the QB23 or lower in all four weeks he has played.
He is 12th in passing points per attempt (0.452) and has a 5.5% touchdown rate (9th), but this offense is as conservative as we feared entering the season.
The Chargers have a league-low 47.9% dropback rate. They have thrown the ball 4% below expectations.
As a result, Herbert is averaging 24.8 dropbacks per game, the fewest in the league.
That forces us to rely on efficiency, which is hard to do here.
The Broncos are fourth in the league in passing points allowed per attempt (0.269) and have allowed 5.8 yards per pass attempt (3rd).
That leaves Herbert as a back-end QB2 for fantasy in Week 5.
If looking for some good news, Joe Alt is expected to be back after missing Week 4 with a knee injury, but the return of Rashawn Slater is less clear to start the week.
Bo Nix: Nix came through for gamers last weekend who were hoping the matchup would elevate him.
He ended the week as QB8 with a season-high 23.1 fantasy points.
Nix had season-highs in completion rate (70.6%) and yards per pass attempt (7.6), throwing 2 touchdowns and sneaking in another on the ground.
Nix has now been a QB1 in two of his past three games.
Those games came against the Bucs and Raiders, which are two targets for us, but that at least gives us added confidence when Nix has favorable matchups, even if he remains largely an option for 2QB formats.
The Chargers have not faced a strong schedule, but they are sixth in passing points allowed per attempt (0.310) and have only allowed 9.3 passing points per game (7th).
The positive points are that the Chargers have allowed a 72.5% completion rate (31st) and struggled to get pressure, ranking 23rd (29.5%).
