  • Baltimore has a 34-15 record under John Harbaugh with a rest advantage, third in the NFL since he was hired.
  • Baltimore had a 68.9% dropback rate in Week 1. Two of its three highest dropback rates under Todd Monken have now come against the Chiefs.
  • The Ravens trailed for 37 plays in the second half in Week 1. They trailed for 63 total plays in the second half of last regular season with Lamar Jackson playing.
  • The Raiders posted -13.8 EPA on running back runs in Week 1, the worst in the league.
  • Raider running backs posted a league-worst 16.7% success rate.
  • Baltimore running backs posted a league-high 64.3% success rate.
  • The Raiders had a 71.7% success rate defensively in Week 1 (2nd in the league), their highest rate in a game since 2021.

Trust = spike production for that player

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson: Jackson worked through another tough matchup against Steve Spagnuolo and came out as QB5 (25.1) for fantasy in Week 1.

Jackson was the QB17 in passing points per attempt (0.364), but chasing the game script, he threw 41 times.

In 2023, he threw 40 passes just one time.

Jackson also rushed for 122 yards, his 17th career 100-yard rushing game.

Mike Vick is next with 11, and then next on the list is Justin Fields has 5.

Jackson’s dual-threat ability is why he resides as a QB1.

With a lot of moving parts on the offensive line, Baltimore calibrated by having Jackson get the ball out quickly.

Jackson only averaged 6.5 air yards per throw, almost 2 full yards lower than his 8.4 air yards per pass in 2023.

39.0% of his passes were at or behind the line of scrimmage, his highest rate in a game since Week 1 of last season.

Only Derek Carr (39.1%) had a higher rate in Week 1.

The Ravens played one of the worst games (by their standards) on both sides of the ball and still were a big toe away from potentially going for two to win the game in Arrowhead.

I do believe they will be fine and figure things out up front, but they will now have to contend with Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins

The Raiders did not get much pressure on Justin Herbert, creating pressure on 32.1% of dropbacks (20th).

Las Vegas was 19th in passing points allowed per attempt (0.375).

Gardner Minshew: Minshew was solid in his first start with the Raiders, completing 25-of-33 (75.8%) passes for 257 yards (7.8 Y/A) with a touchdown and an interception.

He was 9th among quarterbacks in plays that generated 1.0 EPA or more (25.0%).

That solid outing did not result in fantasy points, however.

Minshew ended Week 1 as QB21 (10.8 points).

Just 6.1% of Minshew’s passes were 20 or more yards downfield (28th), while 36.4% of his throws were at or behind the line of scrimmage (27th).

Heading on the road as a huge underdog, Minshew is a low-ceiling QB2

I will be looking to see if Zach Orr ramps up the pressure in Week 2 after the Ravens played things conservatively against Patrick Mahomes

Baltimore blitzed on just 10.0% of passing plays, 30th in the league.
