  • The Rams have allowed 6.9 yards per passing play, 30th in the league.
  • The Saints allow 6.8 yards per passing play, which is 28th in the league.
  • 43.6% of the drives against the Rams reach the red zone or score prior, 30th in the league.
  • The Saints allow a league-high 6.2 yards per play on early downs.
  • The Saints average 6.1 yards per play with Derek Carr on the field compared to 4.8 yards per play with him off the field, which is the difference between being 5th in the NFL and 28th.
  • The Rams have run 7 plays this season, leading by double digits. Only the Raiders (3) have run fewer.
  • The Rams were 0-of-8 on third down on Sunday Night, the first time this season that a team failed to convert a third down in a game.
  • The Rams have converted 19.5% (8-of-41) of their third downs over the past four weeks, the lowest rate in the NFL.
  • The Rams have converted 31.7% of their third downs this season, ahead of only the Browns (27%).

Trust = spike production for that player

Quarterback

Matthew Stafford (TRUST): Stafford only averaged 6.8 yards per pass attempt and needed a late cosmetic touchdown to get there last week, but he ended up closing the week as QB8 (19.2 points).

Stafford has averaged 19.9 points per game over his past five games after 8.7 per game prior.

Since Puka Nacua came back, Stafford has a 6.4% touchdown rate (5th), compared to a 1.5% rate before Nacua’s return (31st).

Stafford has faced four solid pass defenses over that period, too.

Stafford needed that late rally to post a QB1 week against a stingy Philadelphia defense, but he gets a soft matchup this week in New Orleans.

We have targeted the Saints, who allow 7.6 yards per pass attempt (26th) and 270.9 passing yards per game (29th).

Derek Carr: Carr exits the bye coming off weeks with 20.5 points against the Falcons and 18.7 points against the Browns.

Gamers may not want to believe this, but Carr is 4th in the NFL in passing points per attempt (0.539) behind Lamar Jackson, Jared Goff, and Joe Burrow.

Carr has completed 68.7% of his passes (7th) for 8.3 Y/A (6th), and a 6.2% touchdown rate (7th).

This is even more impressive, given the players the Saints have been missing due to injuries at wide receiver and on the offensive line, paired with how their backup quarterbacks performed.

I prefer to use Carr as a floor-based QB2 in a week without byes, but I still cannot get over Carr bricking a matchup with Carolina. Carr is in another good matchup here.

The Rams have been shredded through the air, allowing 8.2 yards per pass attempt (31st) and a 5.9% touchdown rate (29th).

They are 29th in passing points allowed per attempt (0.504).

What gives Carr some extra matchup appeal is that he is using play action on 30.8% of his dropbacks, which is 4th in the league.

The Rams have allowed an 8% touchdown rate on play-action passes (30th) with 9.1 Y/A (24th) on play-action passes.
