- The Bears are 0-5 on the road this season, one of two teams (Jacksonville) without a road win.
- 53.3% of Chicago's set of downs reach third down, the highest rate in the league.
- 5.9% of Chicago's running back runs have gained 10 or more yards, ahead of only the Chiefs (4.9%).
- San Francisco has averaged 1.50 points per drive over their past four games (28th) after 2.36 points per drive prior (8th).
- The 49ers have allowed 2.90 points per drive over that span (30th) after 2.06 per drive prior (18th).
- San Francisco has allowed 30 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2020 season.
- The Bears have turned the ball over on only 5.4% of their possessions, second in the NFL.
Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Brock Purdy: Purdy returned to the lineup on Sunday night, but the passing game could not get anything going in the snow in Buffalo.
Purdy completed 11-of-18 passes for 94 yards (5.2 Y/A).
After throwing for 5.7 Y/A in Week 11, this was the first time in Purdy’s early career that he has thrown for fewer than 6.0 yards per pass attempt in back-to-back games.
Purdy has thrown 1 or fewer touchdown passes in 8-of-11 games this season.
San Francisco will return to friendlier game conditions at home this week, but this is a tougher matchup to anticipate a spike week.
This is especially true after the loss of Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason in this offense and the unknown timetable for Trent Williams‘ return.
The season for San Francisco feels ominous at this stage.
With all the moving parts, Purdy is more of a QB2 for fantasy.
Chicago has the rest advantage and has been a tougher pass defense.
The Bears are 10th in passing points allowed per pass attempt (0.376) and just allowed 6.5 Y/A to Jared Goff on Thanksgiving.
They have allowed 11.2 passing points per game (third).
Caleb Williams: Williams overcame a disastrous first half on Thanksgiving to rally for a big fantasy finish.
Williams was 5-of-15 for 34 yards (2.3 Y/A) in the first half in Detroit to start Week 13, but then he connected on 15-of-24 passes for 222 yards (9.3 Y/A) with 3 touchdowns as Chicago stormed back.
They almost completed a comeback, but a significant error by Williams and coaching malpractice from Matt Eberflus sabotaged their attempt at an upset.
Eberflus was fired the next day, turning things over to Thomas Brown, who had already taken over as the playcaller three weeks ago.
Williams had that rough first half last week to remind us there is still a floor here, but he has looked the part since Brown took over, finishing those weeks with 16.2, 26.9, and 26.1 fantasy points.
This is another tricky spot on the road with a lackluster team total.
Williams is best used as an upside QB2, but he has enough upside to be considered a streaming option in a week with six teams on bye.
The San Francisco pass defense is fourth in passing points allowed (11.2).
But they still could be without Nick Bosa here, who has an unknown timetable to return.
Without Bosa, the 49ers' pressure rate is only 25.5%, which would rank 31st in the NFL over the entire season.
The 49ers have not stopped the Packers or Bills in the past two weeks, but are the Bears on that level?
Especially with an implied team total of 20 points.
San Francisco has had issues with mobile quarterbacks to offer another avenue for fantasy production.
While they have still played the pass well, they are 24th in rushing points allowed per game (3.8) to quarterbacks.
Williams has rushed for 70, 33, and 39 yards over his past three games.
