  • Last season, the Jets’ most frequently used combination on the offensive line was on the field for just 143 plays. That was 13.6% of their total snaps, the lowest rate in the NFL.
  • Over the past two seasons, 16.5% of Garrett Wilson’s targets have been deemed inaccurate. The only player with a higher rate of inaccurate targets over that period with as many overall targets is Davante Adams at 17.2%.
  • Only Christian McCaffrey finished with more total yards than Breece Hall did among running backs last season despite Hall not playing 50% of the offensive snaps in a game until Week 5.

2023 Jets Stats (NFL Rank):

  • Points: 268 (29th)
  • Total Offense: 4,566 (31st)
  • Plays: 1,053 (21st)
  • Yards Per Play: 4.3 (31st)
  • Offensive TDs: 18 (32nd)
  • Points Per Drive: 1.13 (31st)
  • Situation Neutral Pace: 28.3 (17th)

2024 Jets Coaching Staff:

  • Head Coach: Robert Saleh
  • Offensive Coordinator: Nathaniel Hackett

We expected the Jets offense to finally take off last season with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, but the quarterback suffered a torn Achilles four snaps into his Jets career, and we were once again subjected to some of the worst quarterback play in the league.

Given the disaster that was the quarterback position in New York last season, it makes sense to go back to our assumptions about a Nathaniel Hackett-Rodgers offense from last offseason.

Hackett has led a total of three top-15 offenses in his 10 seasons as a head coach or offensive coordinator.

Impressively, one of those was with Blake Bortles in Jacksonville, but the other two came with Aaron Rodgers in 2020 and 2021.

The Packers were seventh in neutral pass rate and 3% over their expected pass rate with both Rodgers and Hackett from 2019-2021, but they finished 18th, 31st, and 32nd in situation-neutral pace over that span.

Green Bay was 30th in total drives during that run, but they were second in points per drive.

It also has to be noted that was really Matt LaFleur’s offense, and Hackett has traditionally trended run-heavy outside of Green Bay.

Bortles did throw it 625 times in 2016, but the Jaguars were actually 25th in neutral pass rate that season.

With what projects to be a great defense and Rodgers returning from a serious injury this late in his career, leaning more into the run with what should be an improved offensive line makes some sense.
