As part of the Sharp Football Draft Kit, Raymond Summerlin is posting a fantasy football preview for all 32 NFL teams.

This preview includes advanced stats, the fantasy football outlook for Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams, and every other notable Ram as well as in-depth analysis of the coaching staff, passing game, and rushing attack.

  • Matthew Stafford was the QB8 in passing fantasy points per game last season, but he was the QB16 overall thanks to a complete lack of points on the ground.
  • In 371 pass plays with both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua on the field, Kupp was targeted on 23.8% of his routes with 1.93 yards per route run. Nacua was targeted on 26.1% of his routes over that sample with 2.40 yards per route run.
  • There have been 66 games under Sean McVay in which a running back has gotten 60% of the team rushes. In those games, those backs have averaged 19.3 PPR points per game with a 55% hit rate as an RB1 scorer in weekly output.

2023 Rams Stats (NFL Rank):

  • Points: 404 (8th)
  • Total Offense: 6,108 (7th)
  • Plays: 1,094 (11th)
  • Yards Per Play: 5.6 (6th)
  • Offensive TDs: 44 (8th)
  • Points Per Drive: 2.16 (8th)
  • Situation Neutral Pace: 28.3 (17th)

2024 Rams Coaching Staff:

  • Head Coach: Sean McVay
  • Offensive Coordinator: Mike LaFleur

The Rams bounced back from a disappointing 2022 on offense last season, finishing as a top-10 attack in most important metrics.

We did see them lean a little more into the running game last season compared to their Super Bowl-winning 2021 campaign.

With the game within two scores in the first three quarters – an effort to remove game script as much as possible – the Rams dropped back on 59.6% of their offensive snaps last season, the 17th-highest rate in the league.

That number was 63.8% in 2021, the sixth-highest rate.

That 59.6% dropback rate in those situations was similar to the number in 2022, but Matthew Stafford was only available for nine of those games.

Isolating just the games Stafford played in 2022, the dropback rate looks much closer to the 2021 season than what we saw last year.

The Rams added Blake Corum as a better backup option for Kyren Williams, perhaps hinting they want to keep leaning more into the run moving forward.

Of course, they also have a superstar duo at receiver when both are healthy, giving them a lot of options.

This offense should be good if everyone is healthy, but the run/pass split will be interesting to watch.
