  • Jalen Hurts rushed for 15 touchdowns, giving him double-digit rushing touchdowns in each of the past three seasons. The only other player with double-digit rushing touchdowns in each of the past three seasons is Derrick Henry.
  • A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert combined for 67.2% of Philadelphia’s targets last season despite Smith missing one game and Goedert missing three.
  • Philadelphia was first in the NFL in run block win rate (77%) per ESPN in 2023. Per Pro Football Focus, the Eagles were third in collective run blocking grade. Saquon Barkley’s former team, the Giants were 31st in ESPN’s run block win rate (67%) and ranked 30th in run blocking grade as a team per PFF.

2023 Eagles Stats (NFL Rank):

  • Points: 433 (7th)
  • Total Offense: 6,024 (8th)
  • Plays: 1,112 (7th)
  • Yards Per Play: 5.4 (12th)
  • Offensive TDs: 46 (7th)
  • Points Per Drive: 2.32 (7th)
  • Situation Neutral Pace: 28.2 (15th)

2024 Eagles Coaching Staff:

  • Head Coach: Nick Sirianni
  • Offensive Coordinator: Kellen Moore

Opening the season 10-1 through 12 weeks, the Eagles’ offense looked to be working as expected.

They were fourth in points per drive (2.53) and 10th in yards per play (5.4) with the fifth-best EPA per play (0.07).

As we learned this offseason, though, things were not as smooth behind the scenes, and the wheels fell off down the stretch.

From Week 13 on, the Eagles were 16th in points per drive (1.88), 14th in yards per play despite posting the same 5.4 number, and 14th in EPA per play (-0.01).

Notably, the “wheels falling off” means this offense was merely league average over that run, but there were several very disappointing outings including their nine-point effort in a Wild Card loss to the Bucs.

Philly blew up the offensive staff this offseason, bringing in Kellen Moore after his one not so great season with the Chargers.

From a rate perspective last season, the Eagles’ passing splits looked about the same as in 2022, but they ended up dropping back more thanks to game script, as we expected before the season.

Moore’s Chargers were fifth in the league in neutral pass rate and seventh in pass rate over expected, showing that while the team finishing with the second-most dropbacks in the league had something to do with game script, Moore was leaning into the pass more than average overall.

More importantly, the Chargers were fourth in situation neutral pace, and the hope is Moore will get the offense moving faster than they were last season and closer to where they were in 2022.

With a projected easy schedule for both the passing and running games, there is reason to expect much better from this offense than what we saw down the stretch last season.
