  • With Jarrett Stidham at quarterback over the final two weeks of the season, the Broncos were eighth in intermediate target rate after being dead last over the first 16 weeks.
  • 31.2% of Courtland Sutton’s fantasy production came off touchdowns last season, the highest rate for any receiver in the top 50 scorers at the position.
  • After forcing a missed tackle on 31.6% of his rushing attempts before injury, Javonte Williams only forced a missed tackle on 15.7% of his rushes last season.

2023 Broncos Stats (NFL Rank):

  • Points: 357 (19th)
  • Total Offense: 5,072 (26th)
  • Plays: 1,016 (29th)
  • Yards Per Play: 5.0 (22nd)
  • Offensive TDs: 36 (19th)
  • Points Per Drive: 1.8 (20th)
  • Situation Neutral Pace: 29.1 (26th)

2024 Broncos Coaching Staff:

  • Head Coach: Sean Payton
  • Offensive Coordinator: Joe Lombardi

Denver’s offense did not do a whole lot right last season, and on the field, it certainly looked like Russell Wilson’s style did not match what Sean Payton wanted to do.

The Broncos were a James Harden offense in 2023, finishing second in deep throw rate (threes) and third in the rate of throws at or behind the line of scrimmage (layups).

As makes sense based on both of those numbers, the Broncos were dead last in the throws to the intermediate areas of the field.

With Jarrett Stidham at quarterback over the final two weeks of the season, the Broncos were eighth in intermediate target rate.

They were 20th in the rate of throws at or behind the line of scrimmage.

They improved from 30th in the rate of throws in 2.5 seconds or less over the first 16 weeks to 22nd over the final two weeks.

Those two games are obviously a very small sample, but that change makes sense given what we know about Payton and the fact that the Broncos went out and got Bo Nix in the draft, a quarterback that should fit how the offense was run after Wilson was benched.

This offense still has questions at receiver and in the backfield, but simply having the offense run correctly could lead to some improvement this season.
