  • When pressured last season, Geno Smith averaged only 5.3 yards per pass attempt (25th) while completing 50.0% of his passes (12th). When Smith was kept clean, he averaged 8.4 yards per attempt (fifth) and completed 73.0% of his passes (11th).
  • 35.5% of Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s targets were at or behind the line of scrimmage, which was the highest rate of all NFL wide receivers to have 50 or more targets last season.
  • Kenneth Walker had a dip across the board in nearly every efficiency metric as a rusher, going from 4.6 YPC as a rookie down to 4.1 YPC last season. His explosive run rate went from 12.7% down to 11.0% last season.

2023 Seahawks Stats (NFL Rank):

  • Points: 364 (17th)
  • Total Offense: 5,490 (21st)
  • Plays: 995 (32nd)
  • Yards Per Play: 5.5 (9th)
  • Offensive TDs: 34 (24th)
  • Points Per Drive: 1.93 (12th)
  • Situation Neutral Pace: 27.4 (6th)

2024 Seahawks Coaching Staff:

  • Head Coach: Mike Macdonald
  • Offensive Coordinator: Ryan Grubb

This organization is facing one of the bigger adjustments in the league in their first season without Pete Carroll since 2009.

Former Washington OC Ryan Grubb was brought in to revamp the offensive attack.

Grubb oversaw a Huskie offense that had one of the best passing games in the country built around Michael Penix and three NFL receivers, and that unit played a big role in Washington reaching the National Championship Game last season.

That Washington offense threw a lot, finishing 12th in attempts per game in the FBS, and consistently pushed the ball down the field.

Seattle was not the ground and pound offense of Seahawk past under Shane Waldron, but we could see a bump in passing rates moving forward.

Grubb heavily used 11 personnel at Washington, and given the receiver talent in Seattle, we would expect that to continue.

Through two weeks of the preseason, the Seahawks were ninth in their use of 11 personnel on early downs in the first half.

Ultimately, Grubb had a lot of success – albeit with help from Kalen DeBoer – with personnel that looked at least similar to what he will have this season, offering reason to believe we could see a step forward for this unit if the offensive line holds up.
