  • In his two full games played, Anthony Richardson was the QB4 and QB2 in weekly scoring. In another week, he scored 17.7 fantasy points in just two quarters.
  • Michael Pittman was the per game WR18 in half-PPR scoring last season, but he was 44th among qualifying receivers in fantasy points per target.
  • Anthony Richardson had 50% of the team rushes inside the five-yard line when he was on the field last season.

2023 Colts Stats (NFL Rank):

  • Points: 396 (10th)
  • Total Offense: 5,725 (15th)
  • Plays: 1,094 (11th)
  • Yards Per Play: 5.2 (14th)
  • Offensive TDs: 37 (15th)
  • Points Per Drive: 1.83 (19th)
  • Situation Neutral Pace: 26.6 (1st)

2024 Colts Coaching Staff:

  • Head Coach: Shane Steichen
  • Offensive Coordinator: Jim Bob Cooter

Shane Steichen deserves credit for keeping the Colts offense afloat with Gardner Minshew at quarterback for most of last season.

Even with Jonathan Taylor missing time, the RB run game was solid, finishing ninth in yards per carry and seventh in explosive run rate while racking up the fourth-most RB rushing attempts.

That attempt number was not just a function of game script. The Colts ranked 25th in pass rate over expected and 16th in neutral pass rate.

Moving forward, it seems unlikely the Colts turn into a pass-heavy offense given the concerns about Anthony Richardson as a passer, but Richardson’s playmaking ability should help the offense take another step if he can stay on the field.

That said, the Eagles were more pass-heavy than it appeared on the surface with Steichen running the show in 2022, finishing sixth in neutral pass rate, so he should be willing to open things up if Richardson shows well enough as a passer during the preseason and training camp.

Another reason to be excited about this offense.

Even with Minshew at quarterback and leaning more into running back runs, the Colts were first in situation neutral pace last season and ran the 11th most plays.

That kind of volume gives Richardson and the rest of the offense added fantasy upside.
